We had to leave the apartment by 10.00 am but the owner kindly let us keep the parking bay so we could pack up the car with our cases but they would not only be safe but also would keep cool. In the event we were actually all packed, tidied and ready to leave just before the deadline. We had arranged for Baldo to come back and let us out of the garage at 2.00pm and so we wandered off to kill a few hours.
We walked down to the beach and stretched out a coffee overlooking the sea and fed the last of the bread to the fish. Afterwards we heard back to the restaurant we had eaten at last night. I went for a tuna steak with sesame seeds and the waiter mistook our dessert order and brought us two cherry pancakes instead of one to share - what a shame!
Baldo arrived on time on his moped although we actually had worked out how to open the garage security gates. We set off to the airport earlier than we actually had to leave as Baldo told us that only a week ago there had been an accident which closed the road and many people had missed their flights.
The road to the airport gave stunning views over the sea and nearby islands. There was one particular stretch with great views back towards Dubrovnik old town - a nightmare parking with all the cruise coaches but with strong words from me to a coach driver we stopped briefly and I grabbed this shot looking down onto Dubrovnik.
We were early at the airport and dropped the car with no problem. Quite a wait for the plane but overall a good flight with some amazing clouds on the way home and also a final view of Korçula and I even spotted Lumbarda and the bay where we stayed. Chris picked us up from Gatwick and we were home by 10.30pm. It’s always a bit depressing to be home after weeks doing exactly what we want under blue skies but I felt better with an enthusiastic welcome back from Sydney hamster who clearly has not forgotten who we are!
