This morning I walked to the Landmark Centre to catch up with Francesca who has taken over the job from Wendy. My main reason for calling in was to show her my range of Christmas cards to see if she would like to order some again this year and also to discuss stocking my new calendar. I'm pleased that she selected eight of my card designs and after some negotiation we agreed a 60 to 40% cut in my favour with regards to the pricing of the calendars.
It is very difficult as an independent publisher to explain to retail outlets that I cannot produce cards and calendars at the same sort of price that large commercial companies can do and therefore the profit margins will always be slightly less. However I am happy with our agreed figures and will be supplying them in a couple of months time.
