An eclectic culinary collection for a triptych today in memory of my father who passed away 9-years today.
My dad was a character and his favourite tipple was a glass of ‘Banrock Station’, although I have to admit he’d normally have a wine box on the go in the kitchen but that really wasn’t that photogenic.
He loved Maltesers and every year they were a staple Christmas and birthday present from my mum and two sisters for someone who really wasn’t that easy to buy presents for.
Finally the jam sandwiches? My dad was an analytical chemist who specialised in food science. He always maintained that you could get absolutely all the nutrition you needed for life from a jam sandwich. Now I’m not convinced that is entirely accurate but as I failed my chemistry O’level, who am I to argue?
So tonight I will be raising a glass of ‘Banrock Station’ to dad and yes, I ate the sandwiches and also polished off the Maltesers so this is a one-off shoot!
@nicolaeastwood@maggiemae@alisonp Thank you all, dad did have some strange opinions on food, on the rare occasions Mum was not around to cook dinner, on one occasion I remember him making a complete roast but he replaced the potatoes with toast as he couldn't be bothered peeling the potatoes - mum was really cross - we thought it was great!!
YOur tribute is put together so beautifully. I especially love the photo of the jam sandwich with the jam oozing out. Wine and chocolates and jam - what else could one want in life.
