16th April 2013

This is the 'Yarmouth Belle', a traditional English side wheeler originally built in 1892. It is one of five boats owned by Turks Launches.

It is travelling from Kingston on Thames towards Teddington Lock - past Teddington weir on the right - and once through the lock it will continue downstream to Richmond.

It is a sign that summer is on the way as the boats only sail intermittently during winter months but regularly sail up and downstream in the summer (its looking a bit greener along the towpath as well now!).
Ah- life is emerging for you now. Ours is closing down. I can still see that it is early spring with the bare branches on all the trees lining the canal. Must be beautiful in the summer. Will be great to get seasonal photos in this same spot.

@pam1 Good idea. It is a lovely spot and we often do a long walk along the river to Richmond in good weather, we seem to have waited along time for spring.
