On the morning of our last day in Canada (flying home in the evening), we traveled back to Toronto airport via the Welland Canal. This impressive manmade structure links Lake Erie and Lake Ontario over a 27-mile stretch with a series of locks big enough for container ships to pass through.

Beside the canal the flags of St Catherine's, the State of Ontario and Canada are flying as we finally say goodbye to Canada.
I didn`t know you`d seen the Welland Canal! I grew up not far from it in St. Catharines--we often crossed it in our Sunday afternoon drives, and when i was older, I crossed it many times on walks with friends. I love this picture of the three flags, it gives me a little rush of unfashionable patriotism, fav for me!
