After a chilly morning with all the windows open as we were having a new TV aerial fitted, I warmed up this afternoon by getting all the boxes of decorations out of the loft. This is a detail shot of our tree.
Some people have tastefully designed trees, some people colour theme their tree. I don't. My theme is Victoriana travel kitsch! I don't like to leave any of my decorations in the box and each time we travel I try to buy something small for the tree. In this image you can see a sparkly blue penguin from New Zealand, a felt pig from Brugge, a star from Bath, a model 'phuang malai' (flower wreath) from Thailand and a ball from the Houses of Parliament.
Out of shot is a bear from Jasper in Alberta, a raven from the Grand Canyon, doll from Laos, palm leaf fish from Cambodia (woven by children) and my most recent acquisition of a wooden bison from Yellowstone.
Tasteful… no, but definitely much loved ornaments!!
@pamknowler I've just looked at Frosty - a lovely shot, I didn't finish decorating until it was dark and didn't want to use a flash so it looks a bit dull… yours is so sparkly!
@emmadurnford I didn't use flash Emma I turned off my dining room light and there was light from my kitchen. My tree has new lights though. 200 tiny white lights - on special offer in Tesco. They look great! They make lovely bokeh too!
This is beautiful. I don't put up a tree now because i have a cat, but in the past, my trees always had a multiplicity of different ornaments in different colours. Colour-themed trees are very pretty but I really love lots of different colours and shapes and shimmer best. Different ornaments have different memories attached, and i like that.
