Scallop fishing is only allowed during several months in the winter, several days a week and several hours a day. Outside of the scallop fishing season, most of the fishing boats remain at the quayside, and the owners look for another seasonal job in house building or in truck driving. Imagine this small boat maneuvering a huge dredge on a broken winter sea and you can perceive the danger and the harshness of the sailor jobs.
I find it interesting to see these shots from the other side of the world. What stands out is how much smaller these fishing boats are than the ones I've seen round here.
