Finding joy

Dogtrot house at LSU's Rural Life Museum

As I toured these plain houses, I remembered the stories our parents told us about their Christmases as children in the 1910's and 1920's and as young adults during the Great Depression. Times were tough but the families found joy. At least in their memories, they seemed to appreciate what they had rather than worry about what they did not have. I hope we can do the same in this pandemic year.
Great shot

I love the cemetery in your photo and the philosophy of your words! We would all be wise to find the good in life whenever it happens and to overlook the disturbing.

I think all of life should be approached that way- with our culture being so focused on what you can "get" at any time of the year, it drives home what you don't have constantly. But it's so much more pleasant and good for the soul to look at what you do have and how good all of that is. So Amen to those wise words. Nice shot!

I do believe that reevaluating what's "necessary" (in terms of things and activities) has been one of the best things that's happened this year.
