Prodigal Cat

Feral cats come and go, which can be heartbreaking if people get too attached to them. Our resident feral cat Evander has a sister. Two years ago, Elvira moved a few houses away. Lately she has been coming back for meals. She hissed at me right after I took this shot, but of course I fed her anyway.

BTW animal shelters in our area are overflowing. It's kitten season, and as times get tougher, more people are surrendering their pets. All of our cats, indoors and out, have been spayed or neutered. Unfortunately, many people in Louisiana don't do the same, despite free or low cost programs. Now I'll step down from my soapbox!
She looks tough for sure, but what a beauty! Great shot!

Beautiful portrait of Elvira. She does have an angry expression but it was good of you to feed her anyway.

I can’t believe people won’t spray their pets if it’s free or low cost! For me the price was the most prohibitive problem.
