Mushrooms or toadstools? by eudora

Mushrooms or toadstools?

We have had a lot of rain and these are popping up in yards around my neighborhood. It's unbelievable how fast they grow!
FAV I love the textures and the detail you have captured of these. I have noticed a lot of them popping up in my neighborhood as well I think because of all the rain we have had.

Had to look it up! Toadstool: The spore-bearing fruiting body of a fungus, typically in the form of a rounded cap on a stalk, especially one that is believed to be inedible or poisonous. Mushroom: A fungal growth that typically takes the form of a domed cap on a stalk, with gills on the underside of the cap.

Whatever it may be, it's a good shot!

@olivetreeann Interesting info. I didn't look it up, but I remember my mother telling us that mushrooms were edible and toadstools were poisonous, so we'd better not eat those things growing in the yard.

@eudora Good advice from your mother! One naturalist around here said, "Mushrooms are tricky. You only get to be wrong about whether or not they're edible once."
