Meig's Point, Hammonasset State Park

I went just a little farther out on my lunch hour today to Hammonasset State Park, which is 1.5 miles from the office. There are 2 miles of beachfront in the park, a campground, and a nature center. The boardwalk was washed away in the August 2010 hurricane and has not yet been rebuilt.

From the state parks.com website: "Hammonasset" means, "where we dig holes in the ground" and refers to the place where a settlement of eastern woodland Indians farmed along the Hammonasset River. They subsisted on corn, beans, and squash, and by fishing and hunting. The first colonists arrived in 1639."
Wow. Beautiful shot! =D

How do you force yourself to head back from lunch? This is a beautiful shot! Spent about 18 summers either on Cape Cod or at Orient Point - thanks for the memory.

@milaniet It is a little brisk out there this time of year. Otherwise it would be tough to go back.
