Here is a filler shot from the weekend in Vermont. This Monarch butterfly was sluggish (in the middle of a hot day), so we suspected that it had recently emerged and was drying out its wings. Sad story-- a mother let her young son pick it up, and he pinched it and broke the wings. We were so careful to rescue it from the middle of the driveway so no one stepped on it, and then -- oops! That made me mad, but at least I have this lovely photo of its few minutes on earth.
