My husband grew 3 sunflowers this year. Usually the squirrels eat the seeds and we get none, so we were happy to see these, which are about 12 feet tall.
Allison, I am seldom captivated by flower pictures, but this is certainly one of the most beautiful sunflower pics that I have seen - the richness of colour is amazing, probably brought about by the backlight. Compositionally I would have liked a tiny bit of cropping from the bottom and a bit more space to the left, perhaps in a 19:9 format, taking your main flower out of the centre of the picture...but I am no expert in this type of photography...this is beautiful as it is!
@ericdibosco I have more image on the right but cropped it because it was so soft. It would have been pretty impossible to use a tripod for the shot so my DOF is shallower than I'd like.
