Southern Magnolia Seed Pod

I was intrigued by this magnolia tree's fuzzy red seed pods. This tree has been in our neighborhood for +20 years, having been brought up from Tennessee and planted as a seedling. It is unusual that it successfully winters over every year in our northern climate.
