Shearing Day by farmreporter

Shearing Day

With summer fast approaching, it is now time to get the sheep sheared. They are going to feel so much better!
The sheep shearer is well set up with an awesome chute system, extra bags to hold the fleece, and all the accoutrements to get the job done.
The sheep line up in the alleyway of the barn which leads to the chute , and there wait patiently for their turn. It is such a low stress system for them that they remain very relaxed through the whole shearing and foot trimming process, scampering away once the job is done.
Great shot. I was thinking about a sheep shot today but the were not close to the road.Love the difference in the 2 sheep.

I love a sheep shearing shot....the guys look quite cool, not much sweat there! They will look & feel so much happier.
How is the price of wool....bad here hardly covers the price of the shear!

Wow amazing to see this. Our sheep here are more like goats and don't really get much wool

Reminds me I took a shot of one of our newly shorn gimmers yesterday - this action shot is much more interesting though!

So cool! Wish I could have been there! (Isn't the fellow on the right brave to wear shorts while he's shearing?)
