Elm trees in Glengarry - and all of Eastern Ontario - are being ravaged by Dutch Elm disease. It affects the grand old and mature elm trees that have taken decades to grow.
This particular tree was right in the middle of a farm yard surrounded by the barn, garage, and pool. It had to come down in a planned way rather than waiting for it to fall on one of those buildings.
So sad.
Here in the UK we lost all our mature elm trees to this disease. I remember as a child these magnificent trees they were great for climbing it is such a shame you are loosing yours. We also have the Ash die back disease that threatens to do the same to ash trees. Sad photo.
