A large amount of effort has been put into restoring this structure.
A plaque with all the information at the nearby patio/gazebo on what was the foundation of the old train station was erected in 2006.
I unfortunately did not take the time to read it. I will therefore zip by there tomorrow and take a picture and post it (for my own record as well as for the interest of others).
Dalhousie is a small farming community straddling the Ontario - Quebec border several km's north from the St. Lawrence River. Locals either say Dalhousie Mills, Ont. and Dalhousie Que., or Dalhousie (on the river) and Dalhousie Station. (by the tracks)
I think it is another instance of people moving from an existing town by the river to the newly formed town when the tracks went by.
