Rail fence

Thanks to everyone for your views, comments, and favs for 'American Gothic - Glengarry Style'. It made it to PP - which doubled the fun we had with that picture. Your support is so appreciated!

Rail fences were once so common in this area that people never noticed them. They had no value except to mark boundaries or hold livestock in.
Happily people are beginning to gain a whole new appreciation for them. These old fences are being taken down and transported to city lots where they become rustic features in more civilized gardens where they are once again treasured.
Pretty shot! The carpenter bees turned our "rustic" fence into sawdust before it's time. Apparently those old fences were made to last.

I love this shot - the composition and the pretty fall colors. I love scenes like this that are so simple yet charming, and so many people probably pass by without notice.

I expect the wood the rail fences are made of will outlast the modern fences many times over.
