Leucism by fayefaye

Leucism

I never heard that word before tonight. Out on my walk I found this robin with all these white spots on it. When I googled it ... it said that this was a genetic condition which prevents pigments from reaching the feather. It looked to me like someone spilt some paint on it. Lol The other robins didn't seem to notice.
I’ve never seen one like that! The markings are actually quite lovely.

I’ve heard of it before in animals like deer and wolves but didn’t know it happened in birds too.

Oh, he is a bit like a dappled horse. Lovely shot of this unusual fellow.

Oh poor wee thing! He looks happy enough though. More like a piebald pony.

He is quite a chubby bird
