Following the huge success last year of the Tour de France Grand Depart in Yorkshire, a Tour de Yorkshire has been taking place this weekend, with today's stage finishing in York. Many top riders were taking part, and an added bonus was that there were several opportunities to see the race as there were two loops around a 20km circuit in the eastern part of the city.
In this shot, these two chaps were race leaders, closely followed by an intrepid film crew on a motor bike.
I didn't actually find out the result of the race until I watched the highlights on TV tonight.
So what were the highlights of the day, apart from the race itself? - well, the friendliness of those in the crowds, amongst the marshals, and the police. Thousands were out really enjoying the event. The final highlight was how peaceful it was in the city without all the normal road traffic, with many roads closed for the event. Perhaps we should have more traffic free days!
