Tadcaster was divided by the closure of it's road bridge during the heavy floods at the beginning of the year. Facilities like the medical centre, bus station and supermarket are on one side of the river, while many people live on the other side. To cross the river was a 12 mile journey by car, and for pedestrians could only use the disused railway bridge in my last shot, or a bus shuttle that was introduced as a temporary measure.
More recently this single span temporaty bridge was constructed. It is fascinating to see just how busy it is, with a constant flow of pedestrians and cyclists. It is also a new vantage point for photos of the River Wharfe and it's road bridge. My first shot of Tadcaster Bridge ( http://365project.org/fishers/365/2016-03-04), would have been impossible without this temporary bridge.
I hope you have found this series of shot's of Tadcaster's bridges. The floods have gone out of the news, but for some places the after effects of the floods will last for many months.
Completes the picture nicely - as people get used to having a handy pedestrian bridge... they might have to leave it there after the road bridge is repaired!
Thank you all for your lovely thoughts and comments, they are appreciated.
I will try and keep an eye on progress with the bridge repair - it may appear at some future time in our project.
