The Kings Manor complex consists primarily of a series of Grade 1 listed medieval buildings, but with some later additions. This building is one of those additions, built around 1900 as the principal's house for a blind school that occupied the site at that time, and built in a style simular to the medieval buildings.
The site has a long and complex history, from use as the Abbot's house of St Mary's Abbey before 1540, a seat of government, a residence of the Govenor of York, residences in the 18th century, a blind school in the early 20th century, and part of the University of York later in the 20th century
This building has featured before in our project, with a rather attractive shot that Katharine posted during the first month of our project back in March 2013 - http://365project.org/fishers/365/2013-03-21
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, which put this shot on the Popular Page.
Katharine remains in hospital, making slow progress. More scans and X-Rays today to check on progress. It looks like she will be in hospital until at least the middle of next week.
