Montbretia by fishers

Montbretia

One of the interesting range of plants that Louise grows in her garden is montbretia.

Montbretia is more correctly known as Crocosmia, and is extremely showy and exotic-looking. They grow erect sword-shaped leaves and brilliant wands of fiery scarlet, red, orange, and yellow tubular flowers which bloom between mid summer and early autumn.

Montbretia bring back memories of the Isle of Man. At the north end of the promenade in Douglas, the capital city, are banks of these growing wild and giving an attractive splash of colour.

They are beautiful flowers. My daughter used to have them down the driveway in one of her previous houses.
