Today is the day of the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, with all it's impressive pomp and ceremony, and a massive outpooring of love for the Queen.
I don't remember a time without the Queen on the throne. The queen came to the throne when I was around 3 months old. So there has been a continuity in the background of my life. Things won't be the same with Charles as King, but it wouldn't be right if things didn't change to reflect more of his personality and opinions. Whatever changes this is a landmark moment.
This shot was taken in St Nicholas Church in Guisborough eight days ago, when it was open for people to sign a book of condolences, light a candle or pray. The church interior was illuminated with purple light, and a sequence of shots with the Queen on were projected onto the screen. It was a beautiful, peaceful, simple and very attractive setting, and I was pleased to take time out of exploring Guisborough to experience this.
How beautifully done. My father told me he remembers George V, Edward VIII, George VI then Queen Elizabeth II and now Charles III. Amazing to have known 5 monarchs in your lifetime. Loved the Queen. I think Charles will do a fine job.
This is a lovely image of her with her beloved Phillip. It’s nice to see a picture of them together as most of the images have been of her on her own. I like to think she is with him now, god bless you ma’am.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
I watched the sequence of royal images being projected and I thought this was particularly appropriate, since the Queen and Philip had obviously been a very close couple, and now she is reunited with him in death.
@casablanca how amazing!
