This cornflower was just one of many wild flowers that we found in Millfields Park, on the northern edge of Easingwold.
The park is a relatively recent creation, with the land having been purchased in 1994 by Hambleton District Council, and development beginning in 1996 after a public consultation.
It has been developed as an informal country setting, with a network of paths, a cycle route through the centre, play areas and other facilities. A large area of woodland was also created, supported by the Woodland Trust. Alongside the cycle route is a long area of wildflower planting, and it was there that this shot was taken.
The site covers about 36 acres (14.5 hectares), and is a very pleasant place to explore. I suspect that we will be making further visits in the future.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
I've been taking notice of the wild flowers around me this year. No mow May has led to very attractive displays this year. The mowing by the council has restarted, but some people have kept a wildflower area in their garden, and this shot was taken along the attracive wildflower verge beside the foot / cycle path through Millfields Park in Easingwold.

I like the more wild look. I have hay fever though, so I have to regularly use a spray.

Thank you Jo, it is nice to see more wild flowers this year.
