Trigger Warning. Suicidal thoughts can affect anyone regardless of age, gender or background. Suicide is the third leading cause of death among young people and is often the result of mental health conditions that effect people when they are most vulnerable. Suicidal thoughts and suicide occur too frequently but should not be considered common and can indicate more serious issues. In many cases the individuals, friends and families affected by suicide are left in dark, feeling shame or stigma that prevents talking openly about issues dealing with suicide. - For more information and crisis hotlines visit: https://www.nami.org/Get-Involved/Awareness-Events/Suicide-Prevention-Awareness-Month
I debated about posting this photo. I don't know if it is my place to display photos referencing suicide as a survivor of suicide and suicide attempts by those close to me, but not someone who has attempted suicide myself. However, I think most of my hesitation was due to the societal stigma around suicide, which I believe is a major part of the problem. And over the past 24 hours, taking, posting and talking about this photo has helped me on my own recovery path, so here it is. I welcome any thoughts, comments, and feelings either here or personally at megan.ludgate+365@gmail.com
oh god Megan this is the most mobrid thing i could see...... after Halil died do you know how many movies he had on his computer that featured a hanging? nearly every one.... sorry but this is too real for me :(
As a person who battles with a mental illness, I can relate to this on so many levels, none of which are pleasant to think about other than the fact that I have survived and have gained enough understanding and control of my illness that hopefully there will be no future problems. but it really does come all consuming out of almost no where. Very great job and very brave to post such a strong and emotive image.
