what the f%@k do they think they're doing?

My neighbours have organised a 'sacrificial bund' to try and hold the sea back while they mull over how to get funding for a seawall . . they have torn out vegetation which would have caught the gravels that wash inland during big tides and heaped it up for the sea to take when the mood strikes, this is not the way to deal with climate change and sea-level rise, and they are wrecking the natural values of the foreshore forever.

To often folk don't understand that their right...isn't

@annied its just so stupid and futile, but people's properties are at stake after they foolishly ignore warning reports and develop within metres of an advancing shoreline, we have a bay here for a reason! 20m has been taken within living memory and it will only accellerate, the sea will ultimately ignore any line humans draw in the sand

@annied once this is breached there will be nothing behind it to slow it down

Saddens me to read this

oh shit that is not cool. can authorities be called?

I understand your righteous anger.

Some people - want me to pop down with the boys and organise a sacrificial bund made entirely of your neighbours?

@graemestevens oh the peace that would ensue... @adi314 the 'authorities' around here let this shit happen, in fact the guy on the digger is a councillor and the head of the regional council is a climate change denier... @helenhall i guess i should have gone to the meeting they held where this was foisted on everyone but when you are in the minority its hard to stick your head up, its not my property at stake. @blueberry1222 they even used a pile of coal in one section, its going to be ghastly when that is strewn all over the beach

can you tell i am peed off by this lol .

@vignouse :( makes my daily walk a bit irritating!

This is almost unbelievable. In Italy - though they did any kind of building abuse - the shoreline is owned by the State and nobody could do such a mess without being sued for a crime. And this is a crime, as a matter of fact. @kali66

@domenicododaro I truly agree - a crime! :(
@kali66 this is beyond irritating - and the 'authorities' being climate change deniers are you kidding me. Scientific fact deniers have no business being in charge. (I do really love your expression here!)
