This promise is more than it seems at first. The paeony will bloom and be beautiful, contrasting with the Jacob's Ladder. But it is also in the garden of our new home which we will live in when we retire in 14 months. I have often lamented not having a paeony in my present garden but never got round to doing anything about it, and here is one already growing in our 'garden to be'. Promise!
