Real Canadian Shot by gardencat

Real Canadian Shot

Last evening I went for an after dinner walk by the pond (motivated mostly by the low step count on my fit bit). I was totally surprised to happen upon the elusive pond beaver. For a few years I've known he must be there, because I've seen his handiwork in the form of neatly downed trees, with that signature pointy stump left behind but, after lots of searching, never caught sight of him. Then, last night, while walking by a field next to the pond this guy just waddled by.
Well spotted. Lovely capture

Damm, what a great find. Lovely shot of him. Do they normally have a bald patch on his back, or has he had an accident sometime ?

@markp I don't think this is normal in beavers but I'm also not sure it is actually a bald spot. Here is a closeup from another shot, with a possible explanation. http://365project.org/gardencat/photoshop-madne/2016-06-19

Like your angle. What a strange tail....

@gardencat Thanks Joanne, yes I have seen your other post. I sometimes have a similar problem with some birds. Grebes for instance have very oily plumage and when wet it can be very hard to get any sort of detail into the feathers.
