About 12 boats were heading off this morning in the hope of catching tuna on a calm day. I didn't get back to see how they got on. You can also see the big Fletcher Jones ball in the background - a big landmark for Warrnambool. I've been busy packing as my sister and I are off to the Grampians for a 3 nights break. Hopefully some good photo opportunities as there are many walks, lookouts and a waterfall in this mountain range - and it's only 2 hours away :)
Have a wonderful little vacation! You're certainly primed for some lovely photos, having been up early to get this beauty! Tell me what "Fletcher Jones" means to you all. Here it is a car dealership. I can't believe two people have that same unusual name, so I'm curious!
@Weezilou Fletcher Jones set up a quality clothing manufacturing business here in Warrnambool after WW2. He became an Australian icon along with his clothing. Along with the factory, he set up a magnificent garden in front of it. Manufacturing has now died here and the building is going through several hands -hopefully this last person will create something wonderful. The gardens have always been maintained and now there is a new interest in them to fully restore to there former glory. The silver ball is the iconic water tower created on 3 legs above the building. It can be seen from so many different places around town. It too is undergoing repairs to keep it. Fletcher Jones clothes can still be purchased (but not made here). Back in it's hayday, if you owned a FJ skirt or pants they would outlast you :) Hope this helps you :)
Lovely sunrise Denise. You're right. There are some great walks in the Grampians and the waterfall is a beauty. Lots of steps. Should be nice and warm up there too.
Love the pinky/mauve tones of the water and the orange/pink tones of the sky. The perfectly positioned bif completes the image perfectly. Have a lovely trip.
