Back in the day.... by gilbertwood

Back in the day....

I've been going through some old photos for my home town lady who is collecting and displaying Tongala history. I loved this little snap of my grandmother's house being moved into the town from the farm after her husband died in the late 40's. The house is still standing today and well renovated.
Brilliant image Denise I love looking at these sorts of historical shots, and its so nice to hear the work you and the local lady are doing to preserve the history of Tongala, Fav:)

Great image. For us it is strange to see a house being loaded on a truck and moved stock and barrel. Our houses are all built of stone/concrete bricks.

What a great memento to have. How cool to be able to relocate with you whole house and not just it's contents.

This is an amazing photo memory for the whole family. Also for me it is amazing, that a house was moved as a whole in the 40's. Thanks for sharing.

A great memory photo. Loved the narrative. I guess your grandmother wanted to be closer to amenities as she aged? But didn't want to give up her home! It's nice that it is still in use and has been renovated.
