repaint

I didn't take a photo today (outrageous I know, but when I'm over 1000 photos in to this "project", who the hell cares?), so here's one I prepared earlier.
As part of my job I get to visit a lot of glamorous locations and advise on the correct methods of preparation, materials and protective coatings that should be used to get the best results on repaints...apparently I should know that sort of thing. This particular beastie has not been painted since 1952 and as a result has become something of a major undertaking. This is no skin of my nose as it will help to keep my family fed and watered.
We'll also be keeping close tabs on this project and hopefully be entering it in to the annual Master Painters awards.
It does look like a bit of a challenge .. but should look amazing when it is finished..

"Beastie" is a good name for this one. I hope we'll see it when it's finished!

I would have thought that a new coat of paint..might....just....hold it all together!

That's some project to be tackling. It's a nice looking structure and will no doubt benefit from a makeover.

@salza It's a lovely house and all I have to do is visit periodically and inspect the work so that it can be signed off at the end!
@maggiemae It's remarkably solid actually - there are few weatherboards to replace but thats about it.
@jetr I'll be taking photos when it's done...
@julzmaioro I hope so...not that I'll be lifting a finger...

I love the style of the house, look forward to seeing the finished product.

Full of character as it stands, a pity to paint it, but then, you have to eat!
September 5th, 2016
a good year that but I hope I am in better order than this!

@pinkpaintpot Well I'm not going to be the one to inspect you for damage to the substrate ;)
@dibzgreasley I do have to eat - man can live on the crushed hopes and dreams of small children alone ;)
@susiangelgirl It's an incredible house with a very real time-warp happening on the inside...
September 5th, 2016
glad to hear it!
September 5th, 2016
Good luck.I bet it will be a stunner when its finished.

Great looking house, full of character. It will be interesting to see the colour version when finished. Hope they don't overcook it.
September 5th, 2016
interesting to hear more of what you do when you're not terrifying the natives on 365. what a great candidate for b&w with all those lines & textures

@pistache I seem to be letting a lot of cats out of my personal bag lately. I should probably be stopped.
@adayinmallacoota We've recommended "heritage colours" and done a full scheme for them as to where the few colours would be most appropriate. if they bugger it up I will kill them.
@katrinanz Thanks and it better be ;)

A great capture and an awesome looking building. Will we see a shot of it restored?
September 5th, 2016
Look forward to seeing the finished product :)
September 5th, 2016
We need a color photo of this project for a baseline!
September 5th, 2016
Lots of character here... including the dogs!
September 5th, 2016
Hmmm... So you make recommendations on colour schemes - yet prefer to work in black and white... Let me ponder that for a bit :)

Kas
Looking forward to the transformation. May we get to see the colour version?!
September 5th, 2016

September 5th, 2016
Great capture

@elizmafourie Thanks very much :)
@kwind The whole house is textures...it's a mess...
@pasttheirprime It's comping with the neglect quite well...until you close up tot he woodwork...
@wag864 You may well get to see a colour version once it's done...
@northy It's one of life's great mysteries...even to me
@lsquared Well spotted sir - there were 6 of them in all, 2 of whom insisted on being behind me at all times trying to sniff my "tail"
@blueberry1222 I may well oblige.
@hermann As do I ;)
@paul10 You will indeed, and thank you

September 5th, 2016
@jack4john As long as they don't make a pigs ear of it...
@psychographer Yes indeed. I've been slowly painting our house which has much the same amount of wood...tiresome
September 5th, 2016
Ah now I see part of your work load! Interesting & hopefully lucrative project!
September 5th, 2016
How cool. Good luck
September 5th, 2016
@jesperani I'm only a consultant on this one, but thank you!
@happypat It can be quite an interesting job at times
September 6th, 2016

September 6th, 2016
@888rachel I went for X10 because it will feed my family for longer ;)
September 6th, 2016
Lol good luck!! You're not making your life any easier with all these projects... Good to know you won't be the one messing around with the actual painting part.
September 6th, 2016
@kerosene Good lord no. I'll be there in my supervisory capacity only.
September 6th, 2016
Love this in B&W.
September 7th, 2016
@pools82 Thanks very much :)
September 8th, 2016
Amazing it has any wood left! Hopefully it should keep your mind off all that weird stuff sometimes that occupies it! On second thoughts that would be a pity for the rest of us!
September 10th, 2016
@yrhenwr Thankfully for all of us I'm only involved in this one in a supervisory capacity...
September 10th, 2016
I hope the repaint maintains the character
September 11th, 2016
@annied It will - heritage colours only
