I showed you what I use for an easel yesterday. Today I am showing you the first thing I do after I decide what I want to paint. Tape the paper down with painter's tape.
I am feeling a little insecure tonight because there are so many talented artists on this site and I have no formal training in watercolor. Everything I do is winging it so I am opening myself up to suggestions.
Not to worry Katy- I have no formal training in photography and everything I do with it is winging it!! The point is to do it and enjoy it. Not everyone is a Rembrandt or Renoir. And not everyone has to be.
Great idea....gives you a nice clean edge. I find that I need a visual reference to do any kind of painting. Mostly from a photo. I could never just paint from ideas in my head. You are very creative and talented in your own right so enjoy.
You go Kathy! Art is with your own personal touch and labor of love :)
Can't wait what is next.
I don't paint so I already learned something from your shot.
This site is so friendly I don’t think you have anything to worry about. And since you opened it to suggestions, some of the painters might teach us all something.
Just getting involved and having a go is wonderful. Enjoyment is more important than success although I am definitely not saying you aren't having success. Remember, we are our own worst critics. Go ahead and enjoy the process!
I hope to give painting a try at some point. No time at the moment but would love to give it a go. Just jump in and once you get started I bet you'll become comfortable and inspired. Trial and error when starting out. Have fun!
@olivetreeann Thank you for that uplifting support Ann @madamelucy Thank you. Most of what I do is also from some other visual reference Terri. @lesip LOL! You are so great with a camera there is no need to have painter's talent Thanks Leslie @dutchothotmailcom How nice of you to say Esther and I am happy you learned something @wyomingsis Good advice, usually something that appeals to me for whatever reason. This was my last one https://365project.org/artsygang/365 @thewatersphotos Thank you Gary and you are absolutely right @shutterbug49 You are right about that Debbie. That slipped my mind for a moment @milaniet I am glad you are Milanie and that is one of the things I treasure about this site as well @monikozi as you already know I DID go for it and may keep going. I put dimensions for you in the other photo comments @ludwigsdiana Thanks Diana and great advice @kjarn Ah, Kathy what a wondeerfully supportive comment That means a lot to me @bkbinthecity Terrific advice Brian thanks @joansmor I certainly hope it will be for you @wakelys LOL! I love how you have transferred the 365 motto to painting! @juliedduncan What a reassuring commment Julie thank you so much @mccarth1 Time availability is what slows me down sometimes too but what great advice that I might suggest you follow when you start as well @marilyn thanks bunches but artist just might be a stretch. @randystreat thanks Kathy. I seem to have forgotten about the supportive nature of this community for just a minute.
insecure? what are you about! one of the reasons i was motivated and inspired to paint was you. you posted one of your old paintings a while ago and i fell in love with it. i was going to ask for it but i thought i'd just paint one for myself.😜
@summerfield what a lovely thing to say. I really have little experience ofr knowlesge about watercolor and that is what I am insecure about. The more one knows the more one knows how little one knows!
