A true artist needs to consider several factors before choosing watercolor paper. Quality, production, content, weight, texture, tinting, and form are all important aspects of making the choice. Since I am anything but a true artist these choices are not as critical for me. Interestingly enough those papers made with 100% cotton are the best for a watercolor artist.
and then you have to consider hot-pressed, cold-pressed or rough texture; learned this the first time i bought watercolour materials and the sales person, kept asking me about choices. i already said i had no idea but can something be recommended.
can't wait to see how this transpires. i would imagine by the end of the month you'd have a completed painting? ๐
@30pics4jackiesdiamond I didn't either until now thanks Jackie @louannwarren Google is my friend Lou Ann I feel the same about cotton paper @summerfield I don't think I knew and no one volunteered when I went to the store. I hope the picture will be worth the wait @dutchothotmailcom Thank you Esther It is a bit mind boggling isn't it? @marilyn I am really happy you like it. So much of it is unplanned but the blue background was a choice. @lesip LOL! ALWAYS a factor for me being the tightwad that I am @randystreat So nice of you to notice and say Kathy thank you @eudora Thanks Diane I don't think I knew most of it either @madamelucy LOL! ususally the least expensive because I am NOT an artist @ludwigsdiana Thank you Diana Most of it I am just learning too @monikozi Thanks Monika. I confess I have never considered most of this or even knew about it before now which shows that you are a true artist and I am a novice @kjarn precisely! @wakelys Who knew?! I sure didn't @joansmor I am glad to hear that since it is the subject of this one. Thanks Joan
You are more of an artist than you think if you know to select certain kinds of paper for certain kinds of painting- I just painted on anything! But then, I was more of a "doodler" than a painter. If I'd only known more about photography back then, I think I would have landed on it sooner. Nice composition!
@olivetreeann thank you so much and I am just now learning too as I have only recently started with watercolor and am still in the "doodle" phase myself @monikozi matbe not but your talent speaks for itself
