There is a realy love/hate relationship in my country for when to start Christmas. We celebrate our Thanksgiving the last Thursday of November which is this week and lots of people are already preparing for the next holiday, Christmas, before this one is over. I sit somewhere in the middle of the discussion because I know the need to be ready without last minute chaos but also want to give each holiday its due.
Lovely half-and-half. We used to always decorate to the max right after Thanksgiving, but now that we are gone most of Christmas week, with the kids, we have tapered off A LOT with decorations. I donated a huge amount of decorations a couple of years ago, only hanging on to those with true sentimental value. I want Christmas to not be stressful so I can keep my focus on its true value. Less decor, nearly no gift shopping/wrapping (family trip!) and almost no Christmas baking helps immensely.
I like the sparkle and patterns in the photo. Not overwhelmingly Christmas because they're not red and green.
In my house, nothing much Christmasy until after Thanksgiving. That's partly because I have fall decorations out. Now I have to think ahead about gifts and mailings, because the closer to Christmas the less chance they will be timely. But I don't think that takes away from the T-giving holiday.
I don't mind shopping ahead or even wrapping the presents before Thanksgiving- it's all the store decorations and Christmas music before Thanksgiving is even on the horizon that drives me crazy! Nice sparkles!
@corinnec Thanks Corinne Lots of people do here as well @kjarn Sometimes it is a struggle especially when there are only a few weeks between them. @Dawn thank youy Dawn. As I age I am less enthusiastic than I used to be @ludwigsdiana Having someone to help does make it more fun. thanks Diana @30pics4jackiesdiamond thanks Jackie was thinking about you when I posted this one @wakelys can you tell it was a last minute concept? @marilyn thanks. I remember being horrified one year when momo didn't want to even put up a tree but now I get it! Less stressful is a good goal @cdcook48 somebody iin this country droopped the ball with that. It sounds so much more sensible to me. @rensala thank you Renee. This is actually wrappings for a friend for Hanukkah which thankfully is closer to Christmas this year so I have a little more time to prepare. @louannwarren Me too Lou Ann but we leave ours up until Epiphany. many take them down the day after Christmas. Keeping things simple sounds like a great idea to me too.
@randystreat This is actually wrappings for a friend for Hanukkah which is before Christmas so I have to be a little earlier with it. I get what you mean aobut the planning ahead part though. Thank you Kathy @olivetreeann I agree with you about the shopping and wrapping. I guess it is the lights and decoartiona up before Thanksgiving that bother me the most
