Grandma's Sewing Basket by grammyn

Grandma's Sewing Basket

A treasure trove of old sewing necessitites. This one may have been my mother's grandmother's basket. The scissors and thread are mine but everything else is much older
a lovely hoard of haberdashery

Interesting subject. The thread looks more beaten up than the other, older things. You must sew pretty hard. :D

Oh my heart! ❤️ This may be because it’s personal to me, but I feel like the way you have displayed the little pieces of everything, it can’t help but warm the hearts of everyone who has ever had a grandma who sewed… and didn’t they all? And the lighting is perfect for the display as it invokes the days when sewing was done by daylight or much dimmer light than we use today.

Wow—if it’s your great-grandma’s basket…then it’s Emmie’s (literally counting on my fingers) fourth great grandma’s. I LOVE the way you’ve arranged and shot this. The lighting is so perfect!

I can tell the age. The shape of the buttons, the metal (may be used) zippers and the cotton lace trim. Lovely look at the sewing supplies.

@mcsiegle You figured it out perfectly Mary! i had to count on my fingers too! So glad you like it!
@randystreat You are absoulutely correct, the zippers were used and salvaged to be reused. Lots of what I have from her is repurposed pieces. You noticed a lot Thanks Kathy
