Abstract 8_2 by granagringa
Hi again - this is interesting with its textures and fissures. I've had a bit of a look at Pic Monkey. It doesn't seem to have any ability to specifically isolate sections with marquee tools etc. What it seems to do is offer lots of preset options that you can then choose to apply to the whole image or just paint onto one section. If you wanted to have a go this might be a good one to try - maybe with one of the Effects ( they all appear when you click the 2nd? button down on the left.)? Just a thought - I tried it with the 3 hearts abstract image - it was easy - and you can compare the new with the old using the little button below the photo ( Hover over the buttons and it will tell you what they do). Just apply it if you like it. Otherwise move to the next one.I thought I might just play with the effects section on a few things for a while???? :) You might prefer to keep going with the program you've got and not fiddle with PicMonkey? I think I'll play with both... Cheers Rob

@robz Thanks so much....the program I've been using, Picasa, has about the same format as Picmonkey..just presets and some retouch possibility. I did use the "clouds" preset on picmonkey with one of the twist tie shots. So now it looks as if I need to move on to something a bit more sophisticated...free would be good I know you said the one you've been using is outdated...I think there have been some discussions so that's where I'll start. You are really nice to have gone through all this and written all that..thank you.

@granagringa No worries Madeline. My husband always tells me I'm overenthusiastic!! - so just say "Calm!, Calm!" if you feel the need. There was one really good thing on Pic Monkey - better than on my program. Right at the end of the Effects section there was a Dodge button and a Burn button which let you brighten or subdue just small sections by painting on them. It seems really useful!! I'll be interested to see what you end up with and how much control you have over the various sections. Cheers for now Rob
