Wide-angle Step Down by granagringa

Wide-angle Step Down

It's so odd for me to think about what kind of shot I can take with a lens rather than what lens would work for the shot I want. And then something else still turns up. This is looking down at a staircase.
I like what your doing with your wide angle lens, another good photo

Interesting--I don't have one of those, so I hadn't thought about how views would be different.

I'm learning from you, lots!!

This is excellent in more ways than is first obvious..
Fabulous PoV, showing thinking outside the box.. love the blue rail - a perfect foil for the orange of the steps.. the steps are fabulous - the PoV has almost completely flattened the steps to lines.. with only the two left-hand ones showing any sort of depth as a step..
What this image also shows is how quickly your sense of adventure (with the camera) has progressed and how far you have travelled..
i love working with wide lenses.. my favourite of the moment is my 17-35 mm zoom Nikkor.. the difference being that the equivalence of your lens brings it to about 27- 82 mm whereas mine stays at 17-35 mm.. as you have found out, using wide angles gives a totally different PoV and 'feel' to an image.. it's not just about getting more, of whatever the subject is, in frame.. it's a different way of thinking/working..
loving following your adventures.. :-)

Well done.

Well captured - I can't help being a little amused about your lense thoughts. I have two lenses for my camera and have so far only used the one of them - since being able to change the lens is new territory for me it is not something I even consider (but is is my plan to try the second lense next week)

Haha an interesting change in thinking. You're doing good at finding subjects to help you practice! Very cool shot of this staircase

Yes, it is a good discipline and its good to let a potential shot go by because you don;t have the lens for it. Even more extreme If you only take prime lens rather than a zoom

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Thank you, Jackie; what a very nice thing to say. It's all such a learning curve! Nice to think I have something to share.

@jorlam As I've said before, you see what I see. All the details you mention I was quite cognizant of...thanks for the note about the lenses. Right now I am still just playing with the kit lenses altho I am thinking of adding the wide angle filter that came with the kit as well...just to see what happens. Maybe next week.....And as always, thank you for all the time and consideration. It means so much to know you are looking.

@cjphoto Practice, practice. Yes, that's true...and it is sort of like being on a treasure hunt...thanks for sticking with me!

@yrhenwr Thanks, David.. Good encouragement and good advice. The prime lens life will have to wait a bit yet, but I'm still enjoying the zooms in the kit lenses...and with this "project" keeping it around 18-24 mm. And not carrying the longer lens at all. Keeping away temptation!

@runner365 Good luck with new lenses ... you never know what new perspectives you will find. I look forward to seeing your discoveries...

I love the lines and patterns and abstractness of this! Thanks for your fave of my red white blue post. It prompted me to look at your albums--and they are wonderful. In some images, such as this one, you have a similar eye to my own!
