While I was sorting out old papers in my office today I found the paperwork from one of the biggest and most amazing challenges I've ever done. In June, 2006, when we were living in Oregon, I took part in an event called Reach The Summit, a sponsored mountain climb for the American Lung Association. We climbed Mt Hood, which is over 11,000 ft. We stayed the night at the climbing hut part of the way up and set off shortly after midnight to reach the summit not long after dawn. Here I am at the top. Ignore the stupid grin and you'll see the incredible beauty of the place - the sunshine, the thin air, shadows on the snow...amazing! I met a wonderful group of people doing this event and still keep in touch with my climbing buddies. I wish, wish, wish I could do this again, never more so than on a grey February day in the fens!
Wow! Impressive! Wonderful photo... We visit Portland, Oregon quite often due to my granddaughter living there. We always see Mt. Hood from the plane and it's so gorgeous.
I can't imagine scenery anywhere that could be more different from the Fenland! Great shot and fantastic achievement. British winters just don't compare!
Love those shadows walking across the snow. Didn't know you once lived in my neck of the woods. This is a great event and gets lots of coverage every year.
ooh, I'd love to! We're in America most of the summer though -but maybe I could scive off to Crete by myself at the end of the summer...I'll have to get into training though - climbing the stairs is the limit of my excercise at the moment!
