Will's football team played their last match of the season last night. It was a nail-biting affair. If they won or drew they would finish top of their division and bring home a shiny cup. If they lost, the opposing team (their arch-rivals!) would win the division instead. With four minutes of playing time to go it was still 0-0. Then our team went one goal ahead. Those last minutes were a mad scramble as the opposition threw everyone forward to try to get a goal back. Will defended his goal heroically, diving to save shot after shot, and they ended ahead by 1-0. Here they are sharing a victory group hug in the fading light.
@judithg there were a few glum faces on the other team - especially as they lost the cup final a few days ago too - I felt a bit sorry for them, it's the problem with kids' sport - so hard when you're not on the winning team.
