Out for a walk again this afternoon, and tried to photograph these pigeons who, at the time, were eating on the ground in front of the bakery. My presence scared them and they all flew off to sit on the roof - giving me a much better photo opportunity!
@sheilag Small world. My mum was born in Sullom Voe and her mam came from there. Her dad was a Rendall from Vidlin. He was killed by a U-boat in the 2nd world war. My gran raised 4 kids on a small croft with very little help. She was still fetching water from the well and had an outside toilet in 1970 - I remember being horrified by that when we were up there visiting. She took it all in her stride though. A peat stove for heating and an earth floor in the 'kitchen'. A different world from today's Sullom Voe, although I haven't been there in years! :-) Love your photos - you have a great talent going on there!
