View of downtown Houston from the bottom of our street. It fascinates me that for such a high tech city in the US, we still have all these droopy power lines draping the streets of the city.
This is a very 'busy' picture Issi. Given the lens you are using, I think I would have opened it up to f / 2.8 to try and make the background a bit more blurred. This would then focus the attention on the power lines and traffic. Or, if possible, climb up some steps to get just the power lines and the skyscrapers in the distance. Just my thoughts.
@nairda Totally agree Adrian. The busyness is part of what I was trying to show, but I take your point - I must go back and try the same shot with f/2.8 and see what I can achieve. Its a really busy street corner, so my pov is very limited and there is no way of getting up high. I might manage to get the skyscrapers to blur a bit in the distance though. I'll post something if I manage to improve on it! Thanks for your feedback.
Yes we've still got telephone wires outside our house although most phones are cable now! You could try shooting from low down to show the wires against the sky
actually its so nice of you to take picture with these lines being the main subject, as usually we tend to be irritated by them and compose them out =)))
I like this shot, and especially the fact that the detail is visible in the background. It is indeed very interesting to see the power lines and some of the poles look like they're about to fall over.
@jo13 Fortunately Jo, I couldn't clone anything out, even if I wanted to, so that's that taken care of! @gamelee Yes, we have a number of very dicey looking poles near us - I am a bit fascinated by them at the moment, they're so archaic looking! I'll be posting more examples in the near future!
This shot has a vintage feel to me, as if you captured an older part of the city (which is more interesting to me anyway), with the newer skyscrapers in the background and a bit remote.
@tristansmum Yes, that's actually about it Stephanie. We live in an older part of town, Montrose, and this is taken from there looking towards downtown.
