Little House on the Prairie by jamibann

Little House on the Prairie

I've been meaning to take this photo for months. It's a small yellow, wooden house out west of Houston, towards Richmond. It looks as if it's in the middle of nowhere, but it's not really. On either side of that field, and opposite, are fields of massive, modern houses. A question of time before this house is also surrounded by them. Having noticed it because of it's yellow colour, I think I prefer the b&w version of the shot.
I love these kinds of shots because they have such an interesting appeal in mood, but I'm a huge fan of telephone lines and big skies! I wish I had more shots like this, but there are so few houses and fields near enough, but if I take a ride, I can find them. Fav.

@darylo Thanks Daryl - I need to drive about half an hour to get into this type of country too, but as Houston expands it gets more difficult!
@lynnz Yes, it's a cute house and I pass it often - I just needed to get a nice day to capture it properly.

A beautiful and evocative shot, Issi. I love the composition, the B&W and even the telephone lines. Well done.

Well it certainly looks like it has communications and electricity! More at shot and fab title

Love the wae house seems to be dwarfed by the (deceptive) extent of land around it, and that big sky with all the wires in it.

Great composition. Those lines also really add to the depth.

It definitely looks like it is in the wilderness somewhere. Lovely shot, and I like the way the lines lead your eye in.

Great composed b&w. I like the lines of the wires and how they lead me straight to the house.

@sansjuan @pixiemac @lucypics @tristansmum @happysnap @jantan @ziggy77 @sheilag @kwind Thanks everyone. It was funny that the reason I wanted to get the shot was because the house was yellow, and at the end of the day, I preferred the black and white shot. Interesting.
