My favourite Starbucks in town, and just down the road from our home. I remember, just after we'd arrived in Houston, sitting outside enjoying a sandwich and a coffee here, when a grackle flew down and stole the last bite of sandwich from my hand! I've disliked grackles ever since!! Next posts will be from Scotland as we're having a holiday there prior to returning to Houston for the big move out.
@anazad511 Mais oui, Ana, nous parlons français! We've actually lived in Paris a couple of times already and hence it is almost like going home. The excitement may have worn off, but it's a wonderful city and France is a fantastic country. We are looking forward to it, even though we'd have preferred to stay on in the US for just one more year ...
@anazad511 Yes, my husband works for a French company, so we move a lot ... in fact, this will be my 28th house move! We moved a lot when I was a kid too though, all over Scotland, as my father was a policeman. The longest I've ever lived in one place has been 4.5 years, and the shortest so far has been 4 months!
@anazad511 Oh, I physically do it! I have not yet allowed anyone to pack for me .. mad perhaps, control freak, perhaps, but that's how it is! We are half packed right now. However, more and more, companies want to pack for you - they cite 'insurance' as the reason. This time round though I just need to leave all my boxes and trunks open so that they can check that I'm not filling them with illegal substances of other such items! ;-)
@taffy Thank you, so glad you are enjoying them. I will be taking a pause whilst in Scotland, but will resume the Houston places on my return; I have my check list of places written out ...
Another great Houston shot Issi, really liking your b&w shots and processing. Something I definitely need to work on. Have a great time in bonnie Scotland and hope the weather is kind to you!
Love this Issi - don't know how well you know/knew Edinburgh, but this looks very similar to the old Maybury Roadhouse out at the western side of the city. Enjoy your time in Scotland - we try to get back as often as we can and don't have quite so far to travel as you do. Where are you from originally?.........sounds familiar to me though as we moved around a lot when I was a child. Looking forward to your Scottish photos!
@pixiemac I don't think so Sarah. I should be in France by then and don't plan a trip over, but you never know! Are you going to be in this neck of the woods, by any chance?
@perspectivesimages Don't know Edinburgh that well Alison, although I know it well enough to know it's a fantastic city! Hubby went to Uni there. I'm from the NE originally, all over, from Forres to Peterhead to Braemar, Ballater, Bucksburn, Torphins ... also worked in Aberdeen for many years.
@jamibann I did my first degree at Aberdeen Uni - loved the area and used to go walking on Deeside some weekends! Originally from the Border, we moved around a lot, had spell on Cairngorms Nature Reserve, ended up in Edinburgh and then working in Europe and Canada as a Tour Guide! Met my husband (from Derby) in Toronto (a passenger on my tour, with his younger daughter)......the rest is history! Although living in England, never lose my Scottishness!!
@perspectivesimages It's a small world Alison and like you, no matter where I live I don't lose my Scottishness either! However, unlike you, perhaps, we will end up in Scotland one day - probably Ballater. For me that will be 'full circle'! Weird!
