La Défense is the business district of Paris, lying west of the city. My husband works here. The area owes its name to this statue of 'La Défense de Paris' which was built in 1883 to symbolise Paris's resistance against the siege of the Prussians in 1870.
I love this area of Paris, because of the architecture - lovely clean lines and shapes......and I really love this photo Issi, totally sums up the area for me and offers the great contrast between the old and the new. Prefect in B&W too, so it's no surprise it's a FAV for me!
The pattern of modern squares make a stunning contrasting background for this monument. Really like your choice of using B&W. (Go G16!)
That dark, velvety background in my lensbaby pic is a piece of material I purchased for backdrop purposes. It's now has lots of little white hairs on it that I'll have to get off or else I'll be stuck doing a lot of touching up in future photos. Ugh.
@lyndemc Thanks Denise - I just stick that G16 in my handbag any time I go somewhere. There's usually always a photo opportunity of some sort crops up!
