Monet's Kitchen by jamibann

Monet's Kitchen

We went to visit Claude Monet's old house at Giverny yesterday. It's a very 'simple' old house, where he lived from 1883 to 1926, but it's nicely preserved and the gardens are extensive and quite beautiful.

My favourite room in the house is the kitchen. I love these tiles!
What a neat place to visit - your image is just lovely.

Oh I would have LOVED to go to Monet's house, just not enough time though.
Those tiles are pretty neat & a super cool shot of the water jug...not sure what it's sitting on though? Is that a heating element?

I bet the gardens were beautiful. HOpe you had a fabulous day :)

@leggzy I'm not certain what it's sitting on to be honest - all part of the cooking range. It's a super visit, but you do need to go in the morning, and buy tickets in advance - the queue gets really long after lunch! Fortunately I've been before, so I knew that! We were there at 10 am, and followed up our visit by a nice lunch closeby. :-)

@jamibann Thanks so much for all the info. If I ever get back to France one day, it will be on the list :)

Interesting shot - especially how shiny the jug etc is. One of my regrets from when I was in Paris is that I didn't go to Monet's house - although it was winter so maybe it wasn't open. I didn't realise you could actually go in the house - just thought it was the gardens.

Quaint. I adore monet.

@jeneurell Yes, all the brass is beautifully polished! The house is within the grounds of the garden, and so yes, you can visit them both. I'd say the gardens are the most interesting aspect though, to be honest!

@jeneurell Oh, and yes, it's closed from November to April!
