I'm posting ahead of time as I'm off to Northern Ireland tonight, for the weekend, to visit the in-laws, and I'm pretty sure there won't be many photographic opportunities - unless I can get anyone to pose for a portrait shot, who knows?!
Anyway, this was taken at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris on Friday, and is part of the Bernard Buffet Retrospective Exhibition. I discovered this artist on Friday. I'd never heard of him, but found that I loved his work. It was so varied throughout his lifetime, ranging from portraits of himself and his wife, street scenes, circus scenes, Japanese inspired art, still life, and even death. A remarkable artist, in my opinion - I love his bold, graphic style. However it seems that he had a varied career too - initially very successful, then reviled as vulgar and now, after his death, his work is undergoing a revival.
This painting, undergoing close scrutiny by this couple, is entitled 'L'Ange de la Guerre'.
People in exhibitions often make a good subject and your job is a
proof of that. We offer to a nephew last christmass ticket for Buffet at MOMA and I would enjoy to discover him as well. A month ago w've been to Louis Vuitton for Chtchoukine exhibition which was impressive.
I like your composition. I like the colors of the painting with the darkness in the foreground. I like that it tells a story of the two people studying the painting. Well done.
The cost of war is depicted aptly in this painting. I find myself going back to the top of the page to have another look at the artwork; there's so much to study. / Wishing you a very nice weekend with your In-Laws.
@leggzy Oh, we're back already! We were only there for the weekend. Portadown, County Armagh. Hubby's folks live there, so it was just a flying visit to check up on them as they are getting on in age (84 and 90). Scotland next, on Saturday, to check up on my dad who is 83. We are quite lucky to be in Europe now, so that we can pop over to visit when necessary. We have lived in many other more far flung places where it really wasn't an option.
