Breakfast for the Redwing! by jamibann

Breakfast for the Redwing!

I have a little group of these thrush dining out regularly on the berries of the Cotoneaster. They disappear the moment I open the front door, but I caught this one guy from behind through the office window. :-)
Nice shot.. the contoniaster gives a nice pop of colour..

Great capture -- the bird almost blends into the background color of the branches. Looks like she has a feast ahead.

At first glance I thought it was a Robin, as in American Robin. There are definitely some similarities. I went off in search of info and more pics of the redwing thrush on the internet; my first click gave me a recipe for Thrush Pie. Not exactly what I was looking for. Apparently these birds are hunted... they'd better all hang out in your yard where they' re safe and have lots to eat! All they need to do to show their gratitude is pose for a picture every now and then, right? Great capture of this elusive species.

@lyndemc Indeed. They're pretty safe if they stay with me!

Nice capture. I find it difficult to photograph birds. They are very skittish.
