Irving Penn at the Grand Palais by jamibann

Irving Penn at the Grand Palais

I was going into Paris yesterday evening to meet up with some friends ... two French, an Argentinean and a Danish lady - a very international get-together! Anyway, I thought I'd slip in a exhibition beforehand and so went to see Irving Penn at the Grand Palais. What a wonderful selection of photographs. For me, his best were his black and white portraits from the fifties. Especially that 'Girl with Tobacco on Tongue'. I love it.
lovely POV, sounds like a great exhibition. Great you managed to sneak it in.

I, too, like the POV. I'll bet the exhibition was wonderful. The photo you like so well is so...Audrey Hepburn.

Awesome POV! I was curious about the 'Girl with Tobacco on Tongue' photo so I googled it...yes, definitely a special photo. Interesting tidbit of information...the model for the photograph, Mary Jane Russell, did not smoke and the process of taking the photograph made her physically sick.

@gaylewood Thank you Gayle ... I actually hadn't realised that about Mary Jane Russell. How interesting! I used your information for today's post - I just had to post the photo!
