Place de la République

Another shot from our walk in Paris on Saturday.

This is the monument at the centre of the Place de la République. On top is a 31 feet bronze statue of Marianne, holding an olive branch in her right hand and resting her left on a stone engraved with the Human Rights Declaration. The statue sits on a monument which is 75 feet high. Marianne is also surrounded with three statues - liberty, equality, and fraternity, the values of the French Republic.

People rallied around this monument following the terrorist attacks of 2015.
